Divino Drinks is the online version of that wine and liquor store located at Plaça de Pedró, n° 7 and founded in 1949, by Mr. Isidro VILANOVA Cardona.
a little history
Mr. Isidro, only 16 years old, from a humble family, came to Barcelona from Callús, a town in the Bages region, to work and build a better future.
Recently arrived in Barcelona, he started working in a grocery store on Gerona Street, where he also learned the trade and had accommodation living in the same store.
After a little more than 1 year working in the grocery store, he was forced to go to war along with thousands of young people, who later gave rise to what was known as the Quinta del Biberón.
Upon returning from the war, with hard work and the passage of time, after gathering some savings, Mr. Isidro bought a small store in operation in Plaza de Pedró, in the heart of the Raval neighborhood.
An anecdote that Mr. Isidro told is that the owner of the store he bought told Mr. Isidro: "you won't last even 3 weeks."
In its beginnings, La Vilanoteca was a kind of grocery store where a little of everything was sold, from vegetables, sausages and drinks to candles.
Over time and under the direction of the business by Isidro's son, Mr. Isidro Vilanova Sanz, the store specialized in the sale of wines and spirits, where wine and vermouth continued to be sold in bulk.
The Vilanoteca today
After almost 75 years, and managed by the 3rd generation, Adrià Vilanova, the store not only continues to be here, but in addition to selling wines and spirits both in retail and in bulk, we are official distributors of the majority of wine and spirits brands on the market.
We distribute to numerous wholesalers and small distributors, we supply many restaurants, hotels and other hospitality businesses and, now, we are launching online sales with our online wine and spirits store Divino Drinks.
Our purpose
One of the advantages of this growth in all the years of hard work and many sacrifices is that we can offer the best prices on the market in our online wine and spirits store.
And we want all buyers to take advantage of that. That's where the idea of selling wines and spirits online comes from.
It is evident that everything has changed in 75 years. Except for one thing, we continue to maintain that spirit of the founder of the business and what makes La Vilanoteca different, the close and familiar treatment with all our clients.
That is what we want to convey now at Divino Drinks, to continue providing close and familiar treatment to all users of our online wine and spirits store.
